With a total area of a little over 7 sq. miles, Baxley is a city located within the area of Apling County. Baxley is also the County seat of Appling. The nuclear power plant of E.I. Hatch is located just north of the city. It is beside the banks of Altamaha river and the U.S. Route No.1. This power plant is the largest employer of the area.
