Beach Haven is a Borough in Ocean County, New Jersey. Its population at the 2010 census was 1,170. The borough is located on Long Beach Island (LBI) and borders the Atlantic Ocean. Beach Haven was ranked the ninth best beach in New Jersey in the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium. Established during the late nineteenth century as a summer resort, the borough retains a number of historic structures from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The Beach Haven Historic District listed in the New Jersey and the National Register of Historic Places in the early 1980s, encompasses the most intact buildings at the core of the resort.
Tourism is popular here. A number of attractions are present: the only amusement park on the island: Fantasy Island, off-Broadway quality professional equity theatre at Surflight Theatre, cabaret-style sing-for-your dessert entertainment, Showplace Ice Cream Parlour, Bay Village Shopping Center, Long Beach Island Museum and many distinctive shops and restaurants. Beach Haven is home to Tucker's Restaurant, noted in Philadelphia Magazine as the number one restaurant on Long Beach Island. Thundering Surf, a water park, is located here, as are numerous miniature golf facilities. A number of summer concerts, flea markets and parades are hosted in Veteran's Bicentennial Park.
