Helpful Definition for: Irrigation & Landscape
Irrigation & Landscape companies design, install and maintain watering systems for the purpose of creating lawns, gardens and custom landscapes for both private and commercial customers. The primary function of any landscape irrigation system is to ensure the even spread of water throughout a particular landscape. Although landscape irrigation systems can range from the very simple to the highly technical, there are only four basic types: drip, mobile, overhead and underground. The type of landscape irrigation system used in any particular setting will depend on factors including the size of the area, its geographical location, the types of plants involved, hazards such as underground utilities, and pertinent local regulations. While drip and overhead systems are particularly suitable for landscapes such as flower and vegetable gardens, mobile systems are generally a better choice for lawns and turf. Underground irrigation systems are the most costly, but also the most environmentally-friendly, and work well for most types of landscapes.
