Coeur d'Alene is not only the largest city but also the County seat of Kootenai. It is also the main city of Coeur d'Alene MSA. In recent years, the city has seen some phenomenal growth, primarily related to tourism. The name of Coeur d'Alene is primarily derived from a tribe of American Indians. Coeur d'Alene has a total area of about 22 sq. miles and is located at the western edge of the National Forest of Coeur d'Alene.
