Colorado Springs has one or more Karaoke clubs. Karaoke is a form of entertainment in which people sing along to a song in which the singing has been muted (so only the music plays). The lyrics are displayed on a screen, which move along with the song. Amateur singers sing along with the track using a microphone, and it is usually beamed out on a public address system. A karaoke club can be associated with a bar, or a restaurant, which provides karaoke equipment for the patrons to be entertained. The singers usually sing while standing on a small raised platform. A fee may be charged from the singer, though this is not common. Many establishments have weekly or nightly shows. People get the chance to sing by rotation. Private karaoke boxes may also be available for rent. This is a very popular form of entertainment, as an addition to an evening of food and drinks.
