What Is: Truck Equipment?
Truck equipment is a broad category encompassing truck bodies and other items that equip work trucks to perform specific tasks and functions. Truck equipment companies sell primarily to commercial truck dealers, government agencies, company fleet managers and private individuals, and provide related services such as installation, repairs, safety inspections, design consulting and custom fabrication, delivery, and transfers of equipment from one truck to another. The many types of truck bodies include dump bodies (both light and medium-to-heavy duty), tow bodies, flatbeds, platform and stake/platform bodies, service and utility bodies, landscape bodies and cargo van bodies. Other truck equipment items such as aerial bucket lifts, back-up cameras, compressors, cranes, DC/AC power inverters, hydraulic hoists, lift gates, pintle hooks and hitches, snowplows, spreaders, suspensions, truck-mounted toolboxes, warning lights and winches are also available from truck equipment dealers, many of whom are members of the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA), the trade group for the work truck industry.
