Getzville is a hamlet in the town located centrally of Amherst northeast of Buffalo in Erie County, New York, United States. It derived its name from the postmaster and owner of a copper shop Joseph Goetz. The town is using ZIP code 14068, and its post office is within Millersport Highway (NY 263). During the mid-1860s, many of the large farms around Getzville were owned by German immigrants, as well as several of the shops in town. Most of the local residents were farmers, and few shops in town catered to agricultural demands. There was also a stave factory and a cooperage which important because barrels were needed to store most foodstuffs and beverages such as cider and beer.
