Middlebury has one or more tennis clubs. Tennis is a game played between two or four people, involving volleying the tennis ball back and forth over a net. The idea is to prevent the ball from falling outside the court or not being returned, on one's side of the court. A club is a place where one can practice tennis or play for recreational purposes. A number of courts are maintained, perhaps even of different types. Time can be booked for using the court for a certain period. You can play singles as well as doubles matches. One needs to be a member of the club, or a guest of a member of the club, in order to get the privileges of using the courts. A membership charge, on an annual basis (usually) has to be paid for the club privileges obtained in Middlebury.
