Oxford has animal rescue and relocation services, whereby both pets and native wild animals can be rescued and relocated. For animals such as dogs and cats, adoptions by willing families may be arranged. Native wildlife such as snakes, possums and rodents are relocated to an area where they would not be disturbed. Injured animals are usually treated before being relocated. This service can also be used when dangerous animals are spotted, so that they can be removed rather than killed. These services need a license to operate. For animals such as dogs, door to door pet relocation services are offered often. The animals are transported by vehicles to the clients. These services are usually operated by experienced volunteers, along with management personnel and veterinarians.
