Helpful Definition for: Meat

'Meat' is animal flesh that is used as food. Most often, this means the skeletal muscle and associated fat and other tissues, but it may also describe other edible tissues. Meat in Sacramento is generally used by the meat packing industry in a more restrictive sense- the flesh of mammalian species like pigs, cattle, lambs, etc.,- raised and prepared for human consumption, to the exclusion of fish, poultry, and other animals. The quality and quantity of usable meat depends on the animal's plane of nutrition, i.e., whether it is over- or underfed. Meat can be broadly classified as 'red' or 'white'; the 'redness' of meat depends on species, animal age, and fiber type. Muscle tissue is a good source of protein content and iron. The consumption of meat in Sacramento again has various traditions and rituals associated with it.

Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl are perfluorinated chemicals – or PFAs for short – were created in the mid-20th century and have found widespread u...

The Threat of Plastic on the Environment Evolves into “Microplastics”
Chris Boyle NEW YORK - As if the danger that discarded, non-biodegradable plastics pose to the environment aren’t enough, a new breed is making its presence felt; a dangerous evolution known as “Microplastics.” Microplastics are not a specific kind of plastic, but rather any type of plastic fragment that is less than five millimeters in length; they enter natural ecosystems from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, cosmetics, clothing, and industrial processes. Some Microplastics enter the environment directly as a result of various sour...
