It is within Matanuska-Susitna Borough included in the Anchorage, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area along the Parks Highway on Talkeetna Junction 15 miles to the north and  Denali State Park to the south. Trapper Creek is a famous southern gateway to Denali State Park. It has a total area of 370.8 square miles at 62°18′29″N 150°21′3″W. The elevation is 351 feet above sea level.
