Acworth is a city in Cobb County, Georgia state. The city's population was 20,425 as per the 2010 census. The city is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area, and is located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains along the southeastern banks of Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona on the Etowah River. It is nicknamed "The Lake City". Acworth was incorporated on December 1, 1860.
Tourism is a signigicant activity here, and the nearby Lake Allatoona is used for fishing, boating, water skiing, camping and hiking. Acworth Beach is also located nearby.
