It is a city of Bethel Census area in the northern U.S. state of Alaska. The city was named after a courageous racing dog named Aikak. It is basically a Yupik Eskimo village. The public services are rather well established with the establishment of a well, water treatment plant and a storage tank. Further improvements of public services are underway. Major sources of economic activity is centered around schools and other public services. Residents are engaged with commercial fishing, BLM fire-fighting. The local community is also interested in the further development of tourism and a fish processing plant. The local airport is in good condition with a runway made of gravel. Some of the popular airservices of the area are Grant Aviation, Article Circle Air Service among others. Other means of transportation are ATVs, skiffs and Snow machines.
