Aliquippa is a city in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It is part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area, and has a total area of 4.5 square miles. 0.4 square miles of the area is water, and the rest is land. The town was formed by merging three towns, Aliquippa, Woodlawn, and New Sheffield. It was incorporated as a city in 1987.
Transportation and warehousing, manufacturing and retail trade are the major economic activities here. This area is best known for the erstwhile steel mill of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company, which shut down during the 1980s, leading to a local economic slowdown. The local library, the B.F. Jones Memorial Library is a historical structure. Public schooling comprises a number of elementary, middle and high schools.
