Anderson is a town in Lauderdale County, Alabama. The town has a total area of 1.3 square miles, all of which is land. It is near Anderson Creek. Anderson is part of the Florence - Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is known as "The Shoals". The town as well as the creek are named after Samuel Anderson, who had built a gristmill in the area. The town was settled in 1825, and incorporated in 1973.
A famous restaurant in Anderson is Fish Creel, well-known in north middle and west Alabama. It is known for its catfish and cheeseburgers. It also has a park, as well as the Anderson Creek Golf Club, built in 1992. Anderson's cost of living is 16.50% lower than the country average, making living significantly cheaper here.
