Asher is a town in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. It is part of the Shawnee Metro Area, and has a total area of 0.8 square miles, all of which is land. The town was settled was late nineteenth century, and was expected to boom due to local oil production. However, this died out as most of the oil wells dug didn't yield oil in profitable quantities.

Construction, public administration and retail trade are the major commercial activities here. Public schooling is part of the independent Asher Public Schools, comprising an elementary school and a high school. The closest hospital is the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, located about 22 miles away in Ada. The cost of living here is 22.10% lower than the country average.
