Brief Information About Auburn

Auburn is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Its population at the 2010 census was 4,593. The name of the town is from Oliver Goldsmith's popular 18th century poem, "The Deserted Village".
Lake Massabesic, which covers over 2,500 acres and half of which is used for public water supply, is also used for boating. Devil's Den is a small cave east of Massabesic Lake. The Massabesic Audubon Center is in central Auburn. The Griffin Mill Dam along Little Massabesic Brook-Sucker Brook is in the northeastern part of the town.
Notable events in the town include the Lake Massabesic Duck Race, the Yacht Sail Boating Club race, and the Book Sale. The town was called by WMUR News 9 as number one of "New Hampshire's Most Beautiful Towns" in July 2010. It was also named 18 in The New York Times' "Top 200 Towns To Raise a Family."
