Blacksburg is a town in Cherokee County, South Carolina. It is part of the Gaffney Metro Area, and has a total area of 1.9 square miles, all of which is land. Whitaker Mountain is within city limits. Cherokee Falls, Kings Creek, Cashion Crossroads, Buffalo, and Mt. Paran communities are within the town. This was settled in the late nineteenth century (the earlier settlement effort had failed), and was named after John G. Black, the pioneer settler. It was incorporated in 1888.

Manufacturing, agriculture and tourism are the major contributors to the local economy. The town hosts a number of events, such as the Ed Brown Championship Rodeo, Bike Ride for Iron City Ministries, the Iron City Festival and a few more. The Kings Mountain National Military Park and State Park are near the town. Public schooling comprises one elementary, one primary, one middle and one high school. The closest hospital is the Upstate Carolina Medical Center, located about 11 miles away in Gaffney. The cost of living here is 16.30% lower than the country average.
