The city of Brandon has a total area of about 55.5 sq. kms. It is situated at an elevated height of about 483 ft. from the sea level. Brandon is a city of Rankin County in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is also the County seat of Rankin County. There is a Probation and Parole office at Brandon and also a Central Correctional facility. There are also three fire stations and all these provide substantial scope of employment for the locals. The Theatre Company of Black Rose along with a number of prestigious buildings are placed on the Register of National Historic Places. Some of them are the Academy of Hebron, Courthouse of Rankin County and Turcotte House. A number of schools are operated by the School Distict of Rankin County. Some famous residents of the area are J.M. turner, M.a. Mobley and M. Locke.
