Brief Information About Bridgeport

Bridgeport is the most populous city in the state of Connecticut. It is located in Fairfield County, and had an estimated population of 144,229 at the 2010 census. It is the core of the Greater Bridgeport area, and the fifth largest city in New England area. Bridgeport was chartered as a city in 1836. It is made up of approximately 70 distinct neighborhoods and districts.

The city was home to the Frisbie Pie Company, and therefore it has been argued that Bridgeport is the birthplace of the frisbee. It is also home to the first Subway Restaurant, opened in the North End section of the city in 1965. Currently, the top employers in the city are St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport Hospital, People's United Bank, University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport Health Care Center, Housatonic Community College and some more.

The city has a number of options for recreation, including theater, music, parks, sports clubs etc. A number of movies have been filmed in the city.
