The Town of Cortlandt, New York is situated in the northwestern corner of Westchester County. Cortlandt includes two incorporated towns, Buchanan and Croton-on-Hudson, and several hamlets including Montrose, Crugers and Verplanck. The Hudson River, the New York City Watershed Lands, various wooded hills and steep slopes, wetland regions and streams characterize the rural character of the Town. The largest employer in the Town is the Cortlandt Town Center, a huge retail center situated on Cortlandt Boulevard, otherwise called NYS Route 6. Other significant employers in the Town are generally foundations, such as the New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Town and Village Governments, the School Districts, and the FDR Veterans Administration Hospital.
