Elsmere is a town in New Castle County, Delaware state. Its population as per the 2010 census was 6,131. Previously (in 1800's) the area had a small rural community with large farmlands. Railroad construction and real estate led to development of the area. Elsmere was incorporated in 1909.
The population of the town predominantly comprises White Americans, with a sizeable African American population.
