The city of Eureka serves as the County seat of Humboldt County which is located in the Redwood Empire of California, USA. Located along the Humboldt Bay, Eureka lies on US Route 101.
The city is the largest coastal city between Portland and Oregon. Both the California State Parks and the Six Rivers National Forest are headquartered in Eureka. Greater Eureka happens to be one of the most prominent commercial fishing ports. The main vocation of the people remains fishing, boating and shipping. Earlier timber and gold mines also generated livelihood for many. The city is well connected by road, rail and air and water ways.
It is one of the historic districts, with hundreds of Victorian homes found within the city. California’s oldest zoo – Sequoia Park zoo is also located in the city.
