Fairhope is a city in Baldwin County. It is along the Mobile Bay Shore. It is part of the the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley micropolitan area, and is a major city of the same. It has a total area of 11.0 square miles, all of which is land. The city was established in 1894, as a model single tax town. The signle tax corporation system still exists. Historically, it has been a popular place for artists and intellectuals. The city has also been experiencing "jubilee", whereby some aquatic animals, including blue crabs, flounder, stingrays, and eels, move from deep into shallow water, making them easy to catch.

Commercial activities include professional occupation, sales and services, management related occupations and production of goods. A Wal-Mart near city limits employs a large number of people. Local attractions include the Weeks Bay Nature Reserve, the The Marietta Johnson Museum, and the Fairhope Museum of History. Public schooling here is adminitered by the Baldwin County Public Schools system, comprising elementary, middle and high schools. The cost of living here is 8.20% higher than the country average. It is an rich resort town.
