With a total area of about 64 sq. miles, Flagstaff is the county seat of Coconino County. The city is said to be named after the Ponderosa Pine Flagpole from Boston. It was near the southwestern edge of Colorado Plateau and is quite close to Mount Elden. It is just south of the peaks of San Francisco mountains. Though the earlier economy of the place was based on lumber and ranching industries, however now it is the main distribution point of Pet care products of Nestle Purina, Walgreens, Lowell Observatory among others.
Tourism is also a major part of the local economic activity with the close location of the Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona Snowbowl, Meteror Crater among others. It is also culturally famous due to the proxiximity of location with the Orpheum Theater, symphony Orchestra of the town. The town is also famous for sports like ski and other winter sports. The lifestyle of the citizens are quite advanced with improved utilities.
