Fort Richardson is an army post adjacent to the city of Anchorage in the U.S. state of Alaska. It was a U.S. Army installation in the area that merged with Elmendorf Air Force Base to have Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in 2010. Fort Richardson derived its name from Brig. Gen. Wilds P. Richardson. It served as a holding center for several family members of Alaskan Japanese Americans arrested after Pearl Harbor during World War 2.
