Foster is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island. It is part of the Providence-New Bedford-Fall River Metro Area. It was settled by European migrants during the seventeenth century, and incorporated as a part of Scituate in 1730. It was split into a separate town in 1781. It has a total area of 51.9 square miles. 51.1 square miles of the area is land, and the rest is water.
