Gardiner is a town in the south-central portion of the Ulster County, in New York, USA. Huguenots from France were the first known settlers in the area. On April 2, 1853, the Town of Gardiner was created from parts of New Paltz, Rochester, and Shawangunk by an act of the New York State Legislature. The name derived from a Lieutenant Governor Addison Gardiner. Local residents has a suburban rural mix feel and most of them own their homes and tend to be conservative.
