Geneseo is a town in Livingston County near the ancient Seneca Indian meeting place called Big Tree, in the Finger Lakes region of New York, United States. The town and surrounding area is quite rural and continues to be an important crossroad where people gather to live and interact in a regional core of the family, education, and commerce. The town is known today mainly as the home of the State University of New York. Geneseo has a growing tourism industry with several fine and different accommodations. It has an open space for biking, hiking, historic sights, and water sports on Conesus Lake and the Genesee River.
