Geneva is a city located in Ontario and Seneca counties part of the Town of Geneva in the U.S. state of New York. It lies at the northern end of Seneca Lake. The city derived its named after the city and canton of Geneva in Switzerland. The earliest inhabitants of this area were the Seneca Indians. This huge, powerful tribe’s capital was a village near what is now the corner of County Roads 4 and 6 — the present site of the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station. The Finger Lakes region is famous for its wine industry, scenic views, lakeside fun, and rural beauty. Geneva has grown with commercial and tourist development.
