Gilbertsville is a historic village located in the beautiful Butternut Valley and a short drive from Unadilla in Otsego County, New York, United States. The village of Gilbertsville is in the town of Butternuts and is west of Oneonta flooded with architectural styles of English Tudor and Romanesque. The village was the first settlement in the town derived its name from land-owner Abijah Gilbert of Nuneaton, England, father of the United States Senator from Florida, also Abijah Gilbert. In May 1983, The National Register of Historic Places recognized the entire village of Gilbertsville as a Historic District making it a unique district to visit.
