Gulf Shores is a city placed on the coastline of Mobile Bay in Baldwin County, Alabama. It has a total area of 23 square miles, 18.4 squares of which is land, and the rest is water. It is part of the Daphne-Fairhope Metro Area.
Construction, transportation and tourism are the major economic activities here. Tourism is a big industry here. Shopping, fishing, birdwatching, golfing, fishing etc are some of the recreational activities that one can undertake here. Gulf Shores Museum traces the historical evolution of the seaside town. Other options include Alabama Coastal Amusements, Ike's Beach Service Inc, Waterville USA Inc and Pirate's Island Adventure Golf. Fort Morgan – The Guardian of Mobile Bay since 1834, is also located close to the city. Public schooling comrpises one elementary, one middle and one high school. It also has a couple of private schools. Jack Edwards Airport is the local airport. There are also two seaplane bases. A number of banks have branches here. The closest hospital is South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, located 14 miles away in Foley. The cost of living here is 11.20% higher than the country average.
