Horseheads is a village within Chemung County, New York, United States. The name came from a number of bleached skulls of pack horses left behind by the Sullivan Expedition. The village of Horseheads is located in the town of Horseheads. The settlement of the area took place during 1830. It was once a port on the Chemung Canal.
