Kake (pronounced as English cake) belongs to the first-class city in Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska. Its name took from the Tlingit word Ḵéix̱ which ḵée means “dawn, daylight” and x̱ʼé “mouth”, i.e. “mouth of dawn” or “opening of daylight”. Kake is located on the northwest coast of Kupreanof Island with a total area of 14.2 square miles. The elevation of Kake is 56 feet above sea level.
