Kiryas Joel is a village located in the Town of Palm Tree in Orange County, New York, United States. The majority of its residents are Yiddish-speaking Hasidic Jews who belong to the worldwide Satmar Hasidic sect. The community derived its name for the late Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, the rebbe of Satmar and the driving spirit behind the project.
