Sitting against the western slope of Santa Ana Mountains in the Orange County of California, Modjeska is an unincorporated suburban community. Modjeska is a modest place with only a few hundred residents, a small park and a fire station. Being a small community, several in-canyon events are held round the year such as pot lucks, dance lessons, movie nights, festival parades, art and craft fairs, Christmas and Halloween parties. Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is located at Modjeska and it is mostly bordered by the Cleveland National Forest.The place takes its name after a 19th-century Polish stage actress, Helena Modjeska, who settled in the canyon in the late 19th century.
