Newport is a small town of New Castle County. It is situated beside the river, Christina. It is the home of the colonial inventor, Oliver Evans. Newport has a total area of about 0.4 sq. miles. A number of small industries are located in the area. The pigment plant of Ciba Corp. along with the Wilmington Assembly line of GM and Fisker Automotive are some of the major industries in the area. A number of schools operate under the consolidated School District of Red Clay. Sports is also well developed in the area. Apart from Oliver Green, Dallas Green and Henry Latimer are other notable residents of the town.
