Slana is a census-designated place located in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is within Valdez-Cordova Census Area in an Unorganized Alaskan Borough. Slana is derived from the river's name which an Alaska Native village name. During the 1980s, the town was rapidly developed and homesteads were offered for settlement by the federal government. Slana's very own the Slana Roadhouse is one of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It has a total area of 253.8 square miles at 62°41′51″N 143°49′46″W.
