Brief Information About Southside

Southside City is located along southern Etowah and Calhoun counties on the banks of the Coosa River in Alabama. It is part of the Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area. Southside has a total area of 19.2 square miles at 33°54′13″N 86°1′34″W. Elevation is 620 feet above sea level. Southside was first settled in 1850 as a small place. At that time, farming was their main source of income. It became incorporated in 1957 and being considered among the fastest growing cities in Etowah County. The 2010 census data of Southside City total population was 8,412. Races were predominantly White with 96.54 percent, 1.46 percent Black, 0.18 percent Native American, 0.67 percent Asian, and 0.4 percent Others. Southside is using Zip code 35907 and Area code 256.
