Southside City is located along southern Etowah and Calhoun counties on the banks of the Coosa River in Alabama. It is part of the Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area. Southside has a total area of 19.2 square miles at 33°54′13″N 86°1′34″W. Elevation is 620 feet above sea level. Southside was first settled in 1850 as a small place. At that time, farming was their main source of income. It became incorporated in 1957 and being considered among the fastest growing cities in Etowah County.
