Sulligent is a city located in Alabama, USA. It is within Lamar County and once the largest community in the county before losing it to the county seat of Vernon. The city was first called Elliott before renamed to Sulligent which derived its name from railroad personnel Supt. Sullivan. It became incorporated on February 12, 1897.
