Performing arts are in evidence in Columbia. These refer to the group of arts in which the artist uses his body to convey a range of expressions, emotion and meaning, as opposed to using a separate medium such as canvas or clay. The artist himself or herself, acts as the artistic medium. Performing arts belong to a number of different forms, such as dance, opera, theatre, circus and music. Some other, less famous performing arts includes magic and puppetry. The emotions, meaning or story conveyed itself can also be of various genres, including tragedies, comedies, lyrics, tragicomedy, romance or satire. The performance is enhanced by modifying the appearance of the artist by constumes and makeup, and altering the stage by lighting, sets and props.
