What Is: Drywall & Stucco Contractors?
Drywall and stucco contractors are tradespeople skilled in the installation and repair of both drywall and stucco. Drywall is a type of board made of several plies of fiberboard, paper, or felt bonded to a hardened gypsum plaster core, and used commonly as interior wallboard. Stucco is a durable plastering material usually made of cement, sand and lime. It is applied while wet to form a hard covering for exterior walls, or used in the decoration and ornamentation of interior walls. Along with installing drywall for new construction, remodeling or additions, drywall contractors may repair interior walls, fix water damage, and repair stress-related cracks in interior walls and ceilings. Stucco work more often involves exterior surfaces; stucco masons apply durable plasters such as stucco to exterior walls, as well as repairing chips, cracks and peeling in existing stucco, and adding decorative textural accents/finishes to both interior and exterior surfaces. NB: Not all drywall installers work with stucco and not all stucco masons hang drywall.
