Paging Service

I have had paging service with Mobilcom Wireless and previous owners of the company since November, 1997. In July, 2007, Mobilcom Wireless discontinued its 24 hour live voice answering service with Answer Topeka. I, the customer, was never informed that this service feature of the paging service was being discontinued. When, after several days of not receiving any digital page messages, I called the answering service number and it was out-of-service. I called Mobilcom Wireless several times; no one who answered would ever give me any information on what had happened. Several messages went un-responded too.

Finally, I was able to reach the owner/C.E.O., Phillip Rankin. He never did tell me what had happened. I then called Answer Topeka and they seemed to reluctant to tell me what had happened, though they assured me that I was not the only customer who was angry with Mobilcom Wireless. I surmised on my own that Answer Topeka had either raised their rates and Phil Rankin did not want to pay the higher costs or that he was simply trying to save money by discontinuing 24 hour live voice answering service. Either way, no notice was ever given to me as the customer.

Then recently my paging service was completely non-functional. I noticed the problem on August 13, 2001, but it had begun as early as August 9, 2011, the last time I received a numeric page.I called Mobilcom Wireless on Monday, August 15, to tell them that I had no paging service. I left a voice mail message and then later I was able to reach an employee of the business. The next day, Phil Rankin called me and said that the problem was with the phone company, but that he would get on them about fixing the problem.
Six more days have gone by and nothing has been done to fix the problem. I e-mailed Phil to tell him that I wished to discontinue and deactivate my paging service with Mobilcom Wireless. He e-mailed me back to ask my phone number and account number so that he could deactivate my service. He repeated that the problem was with the phone company. I cannot believe that the phone company cannot fix a problem like this in six days. Even if the phone company is at fault, Mobilcom Wireless is receiving the payment for the paging service, not the phone company, so Mobilcom Wireless is responsible for seeing to it that paging service is restored. The least that Phil could have done would have been to stay in communication with me to give me updates on the resolution of the problem and some idea of when my paging service would be back up and running again. Mobilcom Wireless has never demonstrated good customer service in either experience of my paging problems. When customer service is not good, there is no customer service; customer service is a misnomer. Mobilcom Wireless is extremely poor when it comes to good, appropriate communication of information with customers. I would never recommend to anyone that they do business with Mobilcom Wireless. Anyone who does choose to do business with Mobilcom Wireless will do so at their own risk. Mobilcom Wireless simply shows no concern for their customers or the problems that their customers face with their paging services.
