What Is: Computer & Printer Repair?
Computer and printer repair is a growing field due to today's abundance of all types of computers and peripherals in homes, businesses and the public sector. Repair technicians, many of whom have completed certification courses or degree programs, work either at the client's site or at their own repair facility where equipment is dropped off for repair; the work is generally done at a fixed hourly rate. Computer repairs can range from troubleshooting, minor adjustments of settings, installing and/or updating software, and virus removal to building or configuring new hardware or replacing entire operating systems. Repair technicians may also specialize in areas such as data recovery, information systems or system administration. Printer repairs, which may also encompass work performed on copiers and/or fax machines, are largely done on-site for business clients with higher-volume machines and systems; printers designed for home use are often cheaper to replace than to have professionally repaired.
