Adams County is the fifth-most populous of the 64 counties of the U.S. state of Colorado, United States. The county derived its name from Alva Adams, who served as the 5th, 10th, and 14th Governor of Colorado of the State of Colorado in 1887 to 1889. Adams County is home to the national protected area, Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. It offers 17,000-acres of habitat to over 330 local species on a former United States Army chemical weapons manufacturing facility.
