Adamstown is an unincorporated community located in Frederick County, Maryland. Its population at the 2000 census was 2,920.
It is named after Adam Kohlenberg, a station agent who owned much of the land that makes up present Adamstown.
The largest local business is Eastalco (an aluminum smelting plant). Other employers include Trans-Tech (manufactures RF microwave components), Stups Market, C&H Supply Company and Adamstown Subs & Pizza. The town hosts an annual carnival in June.
