Adamsville is a town in Hardin and McNairy counties in Tennessee. Most of it is part of the latter county, and it has a total area of 6.9 square miles. 0.1 square mile of the area is water, and the rest is land. It is named after George D. Adams, who was a shopowner here in the mid nineteenth century. The town was settled in the early nineteenth century, and incorporated in 1870. Historically, agriculture and the textile industry were the major contributors to local economy.
The town has a substantial industrial park. Companies with outlets and branches here include Riley Industries, Jones Exhaust Systems, Aqua Dynamics Group, Langley Wire Cloth Products, and Better Source Supply Company. The "slugburgers", a state specialty, is served at the Fat Cat Grill. A number of annual events are also held in the town, such as the Adamsville Music Fest, the Miss Adamsville Music Fest Pageant, the Buford Pusser Horse Show, a fall festival, and many more. There are also museums, and a War Memorial Park. Adamsville Elementary School and Adamsville Jr/Sr High School are the local public schools. The closest hospital is the McNairy Regional Hospital, located about 12 miles away in Selmer. The cost of living here is 15.20% lower than the country average.
