Advent consists of an unincorporated community in the southeastern part of Jackson County. It lies along the Advent Road which is southeast of Ripley city, the county seat of Jackson County. It is also near the borders of Jackson County's with Kanawha and Roane counties. Its elevation at a height of about 791 feet. Advent also had a post office however unfortunately it was closed down in Deember 2010. The inhabitants are engaged in diversified activities.
