Albion is a city in Calhoun County in the south central region of the Lower Peninsula of the state of Michigan. It is part of the Battle Creek Metropolitan Statistical Area, and its population at the 2000 census was 9,144. Since Albion is at the confluence of the north and south branches of the Kalamazoo River, it is also called The Forks. In order to celebrate the cultural heritage of the city, The Festival of the Forks has been held annually since 1967.

Initially an agricultural market center and mill town, Albion now has the reputation of a college town concerned with sustainability issues.

The population has a majority of White Americans. A sizeable percentage (about one-third of the total) of the population comprises African Americans.
