Alliance is a city in Box Butte County, Nebraska. It is the county seat of Box Butte County, and its population at the 2010 census was 8,491. The town was originally named Grand Lake.
Carhenge is an assemblage of thirty-eight vehicles built in the model of Stonehenge by Jim Reinders and thirty-five family members in the summer of 1987. It is one of the prominent attractions of the town. Other sculptures have also come up around Carhenge.
The population predominantly comprises White Americans. A significant portion of the population comprises people of Hispanic origin. There is also a small percentage of Native Americans.
